PILA is growing!  We are adding a third Program Coordinator position
to successfully implement our program goals in 2008 and beyond!
 

POSITION TITLE:  Program Coordinator, Capacity Building

 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  PILA’s programs are led by a four-member program team.  As a member of the Program Team, Program Coordinators make significant contributions to the overall planning, visioning, and program direction of the organization.  Each Program Coordinator plays a significant leadership role in the design and implementation of specific program components as well as support other members of the team.  Specific duties of the Program Coordinator for Capacity Building during the 2008-09 period include: 

Intensive Training & Technical Assistance (75%)
·        Lead Program Team on overall design and planning of intensive training & TA programs
·         Lead outreach and selection process for core programs
·         Primary liaison with core program participants, including ongoing relationship building, checking in re: participation, and technical assistance on workplan development and implementation
·         Coordinate and provide extensive technical assistance and support to core program participants
·         Lead development of core program training agendas, tools and curricula with input/guidance from Program Team
·         Lead Program Team in training delivery & facilitation of sessions
·         Partner with Program Team in developing program evaluation process and tools, and to document program outcomes
·         Organize logistics for all sessions 

Field Building, Collaborative Projects & Networking (5%)

·         As Program Team member, provide input on overall vision & plan for ongoing peer learning opportunities and partnerships as strategically relevant
·         Active participant in mapping of PILA partners, including direct outreach and relationship building, and input process into PILA programs
·         Input on plan for Grassroots Leadership Gathering(s); support and participate in GLG development, organizing & facilitation
PILA Tools & Curricula (5%)
·         As Program Team member provide input on vision and plan for PILA Tools
·         Participate in editing/packaging of PILA tools for toolkits; contribute specific written content, as requested, for inclusion in toolkits
·         Support toolkit outreach & dissemination Program Planning & Evaluation, Ongoing Program Team

Participation and Organizational Development (15%)
  • Participate as Program Team member in yearly program planning linking to the overall strategic vision of the organization
  • Support Executive Director on documentation and dissemination of program lessons learned to funder & ally audience
  • Contribute written summaries of program outcomes to PILA proposals and reports
  • Participate in ongoing program and organization development, workplanning, coordination, and mutual support
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Program Team and/or Executive Director
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in direct organizing, grassroots leadership development, or  program coordination/development experience;
  • Strong familiarity with and/or direct work experience in immigrant-serving/led community based organization(s);
  • Curriculum development, training and facilitation skills and experience;
  • Detail orientation and capacity to lead multiple projects;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and class backgrounds;
  • Willingness and capacity to work in a collaborative team environment and contribute to the overall development of the organization; and
  • Strong commitment to immigrant rights, social justice and movement building.
 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with participatory adult education approaches and/or popular education methodology;
  • Language Capacity in Spanish and/or Cantonese, a plus;
  • Bicultural / from immigrant background.
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is 40,000-50,000 FTE plus benefits. Starting salary should not exceed $44,000 FTE. DEADLINE & START DATE:  Please submit applications by May 15, 2008.  Interviews will start immediately.  Applications will be considered until position is filled.  Target start date:  July 2008.
