Abraham Aldrete, Operations Manager
(415) 821-4808 ext. 101
abraham at pilaweb dot org
Operations Manager since May 2007, Abraham is passionate about building the leadership capacity of immigrant community members, who he feels are the most marginalized today. His most significant organizing experience comes from his previous position as the Administrative Coordinator for a grassroots organization in San Diego. While there, Abraham supported campaigns that worked to reduce and stop the unreasonable medical debt, evictions, and unfair treatment of low-income workers. A once self described book worm, Abraham now has a problem getting away from the magic of YouTube.

Associate Director since September 2008, Oscar is grateful to support PILA's because it partners with community groups whose primary leadership is immigrant. One of his most significant organizing experiences was to support the staff and youth of Youth United for Community Action to develop a strategy that protected affordable housing while maximizing benefits from redevelopment happening in East Palo Alto. Oscar is the proud father of two children, Larissa (15) and Ixchel (6).

Rosa is excited to be joining PILA at this critical moment when ecomonic and ecological crisis create oppurtunities for fundamental shifts in power and how resources are organized. As a popular educator, Rosa has worked with organizations throughout the Bay Area and nationally to develop and facilitate participatory, human-centered approaches to political education and community campaign-building. She is also a visual and peforming artist, co-writing and performing original plays, to reveal the absurdity of our times, with the group headRush.
Allison Lum, Executive Director

Executive Director since January 2008, Allison believes accessible leadership development and political education is absolutely critical to support immigrant leaders towards building a stronger social justice movement for all! Before working with PILA, Allison worked to defeat ballot measures which negatively impacted low income workers and homeless people in San Francisco. In her spare time, she loves to ride her scooter to coffee shops and enjoys relaxing on the weekends by taking in the Bay Area's beautiful view.
Le Tim Ly, Program Coordinator
(415) 821-4808 ext. 105
le at pilaweb dot org
Program Coordinator since September 2006, Le is proud to be amongst a staff that is so committed to developing strategies to support and build the capacity of grassroots organizations and leadership of community members. He feels one of his most significant organizing experiences was during his time in East Palo Alto, where he had the opportunity to work and strategize with student organizers and community members on a campaign that focused on protecting affordable rental units while preventing mass condo conversions. Le happily admits that one of the first major he really wanted to pursue in college was astrophysics. “Yay….Star Trek!”
Hai Binh Nguyen, Program Coordinator
(415) 821-4808 ext. 104
haibinh at pilaweb dot org
Hai Binh joins PILA in June 2009 and is very excited to support PILA's mission to increase the capacity of immigrant leaders to create change in our communities. On of her most significant organizing experiences was when she coordinated a student-worker campaign to push for a fair code of conduct for campus service and janitorial workers. In the tradition of capacity building, she recently learned to swim and may one day participate in a sprint traithlon.
